Twisted Christmas Cookies

These Twisted Christmas Cookies are a festive and fun treat to make during the holidays! With their twisted shape and colorful sprinkles, they’re sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Colored sprinkles, for decorating

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each half to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  6. Cut the dough into strips about 1-inch wide and 4-inches long.
  7. Twist each strip and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Decorate with colored sprinkles.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of almond extract to the dough. You can also dip the cooled cookies in melted chocolate and then add sprinkles.
