Spicy Wontons in Chilli Sauce

Deliciously crispy wontons served with a fiery homemade chilli sauce, perfect as a flavorful appetizer or snack that packs a spicy punch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 200g ground pork
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the chilli sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons chilli garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon water (optional, to thin sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface and spoon about 1 teaspoon of filling into the center.
  3. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wonton in half to form a triangle, and press edges firmly to seal. Optionally, pleat the edges for a decorative look.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry wontons in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together chilli garlic sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and water until combined.
  7. Toss the fried wontons gently in the chilli sauce or serve sauce on the side for dipping.
  8. Garnish with extra chopped green onions if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra kick, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the wontons before serving, or add chopped fresh cilantro to the filling for added freshness.
