Omurice is a popular Japanese comfort food combining savory fried rice wrapped in a fluffy omelet, offering a harmonious blend of flavors perfect for any meal.

  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup cooked chicken, diced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup carrots, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onions and carrots until softened.
  3. Add diced chicken and cook until heated through.
  4. Stir in cooked rice, ketchup, and soy sauce; mix well and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Remove fried rice from skillet and set aside.
  6. Beat eggs lightly with a pinch of salt.
  7. In the same skillet, pour in eggs and cook over medium-low heat to form a thin omelet.
  8. Place fried rice onto one side of the omelet.
  9. Carefully fold the omelet over the rice to enclose it.
  10. Slide the omurice onto a plate and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
