Mustard Greens Recipe

This simple mustard greens recipe is a flavorful and nutritious side dish. Sautéed with garlic and a touch of red pepper flakes, these greens are both healthy and delicious.

  • 1 pound mustard greens, washed and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and chop the mustard greens. Remove any tough stems.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Add the mustard greens to the skillet and toss to coat with the oil and garlic.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth or vegetable broth, cover the skillet, and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the greens are tender.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Optional: Squeeze lemon juice over the greens before serving.

Serve these mustard greens as a side dish with roasted chicken, pork, or your favorite protein. For added flavor, try adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or a pinch of smoked paprika.
