Magic Candy recipe

This Magic Candy is a delightful treat that seems to change its texture as you eat it! A fun and easy recipe perfect for kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 300°F (149°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam up.
  5. Pour the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it out thinly.
  6. Let it cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, break the candy into pieces.

Notes

For a fun variation, add a few drops of food coloring before pouring the mixture onto the baking sheet. Store in an airtight container to prevent stickiness.
