Korean BBQ Beef Bowl with Sesame Seeds

This Korean BBQ Beef Bowl is a flavorful and easy-to-make meal, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. Tender beef is marinated in a sweet and savory sauce and served over rice with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb thinly sliced sirloin steak
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Toppings: sliced green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi, fried egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, gochujang, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade, ensuring it’s well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is cooked through and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Serve the Korean BBQ beef over cooked rice.
  5. Garnish with your favorite toppings, such as sliced green onions, sesame seeds, kimchi, and a fried egg, if desired.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add more gochujang to the marinade. You can also substitute the sirloin steak with ground beef or chicken.
