Hot Buttered Rum

Warm and comforting, Hot Buttered Rum is a classic cocktail featuring spiced butter, rum, and hot water for a cozy, flavorful winter drink.

  • 2 oz dark rum
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Hot water
  • Optional: cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a pre-warmed mug, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Pour in the dark rum and stir until the butter and sugar dissolve completely.
  3. Fill the remainder of the mug with hot water and stir to combine thoroughly.
  4. Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra creamy texture, use half-and-half instead of hot water or add a splash of vanilla extract.
