  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • For Frosting:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3-4 tablespoons milk
  • Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together baking powder and flour.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Roll dough into 1.5-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set but centers are soft. Cool completely on wire racks.
  8. For the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then vanilla and milk, mixing until smooth and spreadable.
  9. Frost cooled cookies and decorate with sprinkles. Allow frosting to set before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add almond extract to the frosting or sprinkle with edible glitter for a festive touch.
