French Butter Cake

French Butter Cake is a rich, tender cake made with high-quality butter, offering a moist crumb and delicate buttery flavor perfect for any dessert or tea time.

  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (120ml) whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra touch, dust the cooled cake with powdered sugar or serve with fresh berries and whipped cream.
