Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Flank Steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 inch Ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Chilli Garlic Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • Sesame Seeds, for garnish
  • Green Onions, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss the sliced beef in the mixture until well coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry the beef in batches until crispy and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add garlic and ginger, and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and chilli garlic sauce to the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Add the crispy beef back to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, try adding a tablespoon of honey to the sauce. Serve immediately with steamed rice or noodles.
