Freshly prepared Crab Shrimp Queso close-up

Crab Shrimp Queso is a creamy, savory dip combining tender crab and succulent shrimp with melted cheeses and spices, perfect for parties or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 6 oz cooked crab meat, drained and flaked
  • 6 oz cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, diced tomatoes with green chilies, green onions, garlic powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well blended.
  3. Fold in the crab meat and chopped shrimp gently to avoid breaking up the seafood.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a small baking dish and smooth the top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle fresh cilantro on top.
  7. Serve hot with tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper or serve with sliced jalapeños. This dip can also be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
