Christmas Cracker Candy

This easy Christmas Cracker Candy, also known as Saltine Toffee, is a sweet and salty treat perfect for holiday gifting or snacking. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and addictive dessert in no time!

  • 1 sleeve saltine crackers
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark)
  • Optional toppings: sprinkles, chopped nuts, sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and sugar together over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and cook for 3 minutes, or until the mixture turns a caramel color. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the saltine crackers.
  5. Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel. Let sit for a minute or two, until the chocolate is melted.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel.
  8. Sprinkle with desired toppings (sprinkles, chopped nuts, sea salt).
  9. Let cool completely until the chocolate is set. Break into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

For a festive touch, use red and green sprinkles. You can also add a layer of chopped nuts under the chocolate chips. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
