Freshly prepared chocolate lava cake

A rich and decadent chocolate lava cake with a gooey molten center, perfect for an indulgent dessert treat.

  • 4 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 6 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four 6-ounce ramekins and dust with cocoa powder.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a double boiler or microwave until smooth. Stir well.
  3. Whisk in powdered sugar until combined.
  4. Add eggs and egg yolks, whisking until mixture is smooth and slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and salt.
  6. Fold in flour gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Divide batter evenly among prepared ramekins.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes until edges are set but centers are still soft.
  9. Let cool for 1 minute, then invert onto plates and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar for extra indulgence.
