A creamy and comforting one-pan meal featuring tender chicken, nutritious broccoli, and cheesy orzo pasta, perfect for a quick and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  3. Stir in orzo pasta and broccoli florets. Cover and cook for 10-12 minutes until the orzo is tender and broccoli is crisp-tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in cooked chicken, heavy cream, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese until cheeses are melted and mixture is creamy.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
  6. Remove from heat and let sit for 2 minutes before serving to thicken slightly.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle fresh parsley or basil on top before serving, or add a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the dish.
