BBQ Tofu Recipe

BBQ Tofu Platter

This BBQ tofu recipe delivers smoky, flavorful tofu that’s perfect for sandwiches, salads, or enjoying on its own. Marinated and baked to perfection, it’s a healthy and delicious plant-based alternative to traditional BBQ.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 ounces) extra-firm tofu, pressed
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Press the tofu to remove excess water. Wrap the tofu in paper towels and place a heavy object on top for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Cut the pressed tofu into 1/2-inch thick slices.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  5. Place the tofu slices in the bowl with the BBQ sauce mixture and toss to coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to several hours in the refrigerator).
  6. Arrange the marinated tofu slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the tofu is heated through and slightly crispy around the edges.
  8. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

Notes

Serve this BBQ tofu in sandwiches with coleslaw, over salads, or as a side dish with your favorite BBQ sides like corn on the cob and potato salad.
