Basketball Pretzel Cookies

These Basketball Pretzel Cookies combine sweet, salty, and crunchy flavors with a fun sports-themed design, perfect for game day snacks or basketball parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup mini pretzels, crushed
  • Orange and black decorating icing or melted chocolate for detailing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the crushed mini pretzels gently to keep some texture.
  7. Roll dough into small balls and place them on the baking sheet, then flatten slightly with your palm.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, use orange icing to pipe basketball-like lines on the cookies, then use black icing or melted chocolate for finer details to resemble a basketball.

Notes

For added crunch, press a whole mini pretzel in the center of each cookie before baking and decorate around it. These cookies keep well in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
