Homemade Banana Bread on White Plate

This classic banana bread recipe is moist, flavorful, and easy to make. Perfect for a quick breakfast, snack, or dessert, it’s a great way to use up ripe bananas.

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, sugar, and beaten egg.
  4. Add the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  7. Stir in the chopped nuts, if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a pat of butter or a drizzle of honey. For an extra touch, sprinkle the top of the loaf with cinnamon sugar before baking.
