Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 200g ground pork
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup napa cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for broth)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro or green onions for garnish
  • Optional: chili oil or flakes for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well to create the wonton filling.
  2. Place a teaspoon of filling onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten edges with water, then fold and seal to form wontons.
  3. Bring the chicken broth to a gentle boil in a large pot. Add soy sauce and rice vinegar.
  4. Add wontons to the simmering broth and cook for 4–5 minutes until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
  5. Add napa cabbage, carrots, and shiitake mushrooms to the pot. Simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  6. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Ladle soup into bowls and garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions. Serve with optional chili oil for added heat.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute ground pork with finely chopped tofu or mushrooms and use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
