Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

This comforting Amish Hamburger Steak Bake features juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a creamy mushroom gravy and baked to perfection. It’s a hearty and flavorful dish perfect for a weeknight dinner.

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 (10.75 oz) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Form the mixture into 6-8 oval-shaped hamburger steaks.
  4. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Brown the hamburger steaks on both sides. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add beef broth and milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  6. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy has thickened.
  7. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Place the browned hamburger steaks in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  9. Pour the gravy over the hamburger steaks.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.
