Aloo Keema Curry

A hearty and flavorful traditional Indian curry combining minced meat and tender potatoes simmered in aromatic spices, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 300g minced lamb or beef
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add cumin seeds; let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in garlic and ginger; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the minced meat and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Add turmeric, coriander, red chili powder, and salt; mix well.
  6. Pour in the pureed tomatoes and cook until oil separates from the masala.
  7. Add diced potatoes and water; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and meat is cooked through.
  8. Sprinkle garam masala and mix gently; cook for another 2 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or flatbread.

Notes

For extra richness, stir in a splash of cream or yogurt just before serving.
